Office Guard was founded by Mike Killian — an enterprise technology and cybersecurity veteran who spent decades watching professional offices get targeted by email attacks that enterprise vendors had no interest in solving. So he built the solution himself.
Mike Killian entered technology consulting in 1996 with a deliberate focus on enterprise business — advising large organizations on infrastructure strategy and operational resilience. Over the following decade, he deepened that practice into complex enterprise engagements across critical industries, developing a firsthand understanding of how technology risk translates into business risk.
By 2010, Mike had pivoted to a security-centric focus, helping enterprise clients identify exposure, harden systems, and build defensible architectures with an emphasis on measurable risk reduction. It was during this period that he recognized a pattern: the tools and disciplines available to large enterprises simply did not reach the professional offices that needed them most.
In 2016, Mike helped launch the first commercial cyber range in the United States — a live-fire training environment purpose-built to develop security operations teams. That work sharpened his conviction that awareness and readiness, not just technology, are the foundation of effective defense.
In 2021, he became a go-to-market leader for a security awareness platform, driving adoption of cloud-based cybersecurity training across enterprise and mid-market clients. The experience confirmed what he had long observed: the gap in email defense for medical, legal, and real estate offices was not a technology problem — it was a market problem. No one was solving it for them.
In 2025, Mike founded Office Guard to close that gap — bringing enterprise-grade email defense and security awareness to the professional offices most targeted, and least protected.

We do not try to be everything to everyone. We protect small professional offices — medical, legal, and real estate — and we do it better than anyone because it is all we do.
No black boxes. Every threat we block, every simulation we run, and every training module we assign is visible in your dashboard with plain-English explanations.
Security that gets in the way of patient care or client service is security that gets turned off. We design every service to run quietly in the background.
Technology alone cannot stop email attacks — people can. We invest as much in training your staff as we do in our filtering technology, because your team is your strongest defense.
Founder & CEO
Mike brings nearly three decades of enterprise technology and cybersecurity leadership to Office Guard. His career spans large-scale enterprise consulting, security operations training — including helping launch the first commercial cyber range in the United States — and go-to-market leadership for a leading security awareness platform.
